Steelers brought the blitz

The Steelers reminded me of the Steelers of old bring the blitz from just about everywhere on the defense.

The Black & Gold reminded you why they refer to Pittsburgh as Blitzburgh. They brought the blitz from everywhere. They brought it from the edge, they brought it from the inside, they brought it from the slot and they brought it from the safety position when it counted.

Clearly the Steelers wanted to get pressure on Drew Lock and Jeff Driskel and make them have to make quick decisions. They also had a bunch of sacks from different places. Terrell Edmunds, Mike Hilton, TJ Watt, and Tyson Alualu were ones that I remembered.

The Steelers have a long history of bringing the blitz. Dick Lebeau, the Steeler’s defensive coordinator in the 90s, was famous for introducing the zone blitz into the game. Keith Butler has not forgotten what he learned from Lebeau.

I think it’s time to take the heat off Keith Butler. He has done a fine job with this defense in the past two years now that he has gotten the right personnel.
