5 things that went right in Steelers win over the Broncos
By Edward Hunt
James Conner ran well when it mattered
James Conner did not get a lot of touches but did run the ball well when the Steelers had to run out the clock. Those things make a difference in a close game.
The Black & Gold relied more on the passing game on offense but did have to run the ball at the end of the game to run the clock out. James Conner ran in big chunks and then finally let off a 59-yard run that took the Steelers to the Broncos side of the field.
The good news is that James Conner is healthy and he can be a contributor for this team when it matters. This week it was actually Benny Snell who was the loser with his fumble and Conner who was the winner.
Conner and Benny Snell are shaping up to be a nice 1-2 combo. Conner can pick up the slack for Snell and Snell can pick up the slack for Conner. It’s what you want from your top 2 from the depth chart.
I also have to honor the grit of this offensive line, although they struggled at times in pass blocking, they brought the lumber in the run blocking game. This team got a first-career start from Kevin Dotson and I think he did well enough for the Steelers to run when they needed to.
