It’s week two for the Pittsburgh Steelers as they matchup for the Denver Broncos, and the Still Curtain team is here with predictions as well.

No matter how ugly it can look, a win is a win, and after week one, the Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in the right column. A 26-16 victory against the New York Giants, things weren’t all bad for the Black and Gold, but it took some time for the team to get the game under them.

Steelers vacancy filled with triumph

Nonetheless, on the road & playing a lesser team, it was a positive sight to see the Steelers handle business in the matter they did. Transitioning into week two, Heinz Field will sadly be without its fans and the illuminating scene of the terrible towel. However, the home opener for Pittsburgh is still as anticipating in their absence.

Furthermore, it appears the bookies are strengthening their faith in the Steelers as 7.5 point favorites vs. the Denver Broncos.

Odds laid out, our team of writers at the Still Curtain provides their week two predictions for Sunday’s game.

Writer’s Recap

To no surprise, everyone here is tied with a perfect 1-0 record following Pittsburgh’s win last week, separating by merely point differentials. However, it seems things could be shaking up on the record board after tomorrow’s matchup against the Broncos.

Week Two Predictions vs Broncos

“Pittsburgh continues to dominate on each side of the ball as the team pushes to 2-0” – Christian Brown (Steelers 30-20)

“Steelers struggle to establish the run, and some late-game turnovers by Roethlisberger lead to a loss. Broncos can’t run, but Noah Fant finds the end zone twice, and Courtland Sutton gets in as well. Pittsburgh responds with a score by Snell, juju, and Ebron, but it isn’t enough” – Andrew Falce (Broncos 27-24)

“The home opener looked to be spoiled, but a 4th quarter drive engineered by ‘Big Ben’ will be the icing on the cake for a 27-24 Pittsburgh win.  The offense does just enough to win the game.  The defense gives up two big plays that could spell doom, but fortunately, they do not.” – Eric Hassel (Steelers 27-24)

“The Steelers have some injuries on the offensive line, but the Broncos will be without Phillip Lindsay and AJ Bouye. I think Pittsburgh takes this at home 24-17 because the Steelers are back with Ben Roethlisberger and their playmaking defense.” – Ed Hunt (Steelers 24-17)

“The Steelers took care of business in Week 1 against the Giants. Unfortunately, the win didn’t come without a price. Pittsburgh had several key injuries, and their starting right tackle, Zach Banner, landed in IR with a torn ACL. Still, they get a favorable home matchup against the Denver Broncos – a team with even more injuries, including starting cornerback A.J. Bouye and All-Pro pass rusher Von Miller. The Broncos scored just 14 points in a loss to the Titans last week. I have Pittsburgh taking this contest at home.” – Tommy Jaggi (Steelers 28-17)

“Even with devastating injuries upfront to the offensive line, the Steelers turn the heel with an even more assuring victory, tailoring the offense to a more up-tempo style. Broncos are a young, fresh team, but with missing key pieces, the score doesn’t appear closer than what it did in their week one matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Pittsburgh takes this one comfortably.” – Jordan Newman (Steelers 30-10)

“Pittsburgh should be able to have a more complete game than they had in week one, so expect a more consistent offensive attack. The Broncos are missing some starters on both sides of the ball so that should allow for this talented Steelers team to win. It will probably be closer than most expect, but the Steelers should be able to secure victory and home the lead for the entire game.” – Ryan Pawloski (Steelers 28-20)

“It’s going to be a really close defensive game. Both teams have explosive scoring ability, which will lead to a couple of big plays. For the most part, it’s going to be a defensive game. Denver’s front 7, even without Von Miller, is going to generate a lot of pressure with the injuries on the Steelers o line. And everyone knows what Pittsburgh’s defense is going to do.” – Casey Sadekoski (Steelers 21-17)
