SS Morgan Burnett
We’ve seen what Morgan Burnett had to offer with the Steelers. Admittedly, it wasn’t anything spectacular. However, I still feel like there’s a role he could fill on defense if Pittsburgh was willing to give him a call.
Burnett already knows Pittsburgh’s system and has experience operating as the team’s ‘dime backer’ in 2018. The long-time NFL starter played just 8 games for the Cleveland Browns last year before suffering an injury, but he’s managed to start 112 of the 121 games he has suited up for in his NFL career.
Burnett may only be a shade of his former self when he was a borderline Pro Bowl talent for the Green Bay Packers, but there’s no question he’s an upgrade in coverage over Vince Williams. The former Steelers sub-package player can pick up where he left off with the team in 2018.
The Steelers will be competitive this year with or without these roster changes, but adding some veteran players to positions with questionable depth could prove to be beneficial.
