Tyler Matakevich

Dirty Red, otherwise known as Tyler Matakevich left the Steelers for snowier pastures in Buffalo this past offseason. The former standout special teams linebacker left with hopes of continued success with his second team since entering the league.

Money is a tough thing for cap-strapped teams like the  Steelers to compete with when players can leave via free agency. Money was put on the table and Matakevich was given an offer that he couldn’t refuse. He signed a two-year deal that could be worth up to nine million dollars by the end of it.

The great special teams player has now become a potential starter for the Bills as injuries have started to pile up at his position. He could play a bigger role for their starting defense after the roster keeps moving to its next man up. Matakevich is preparing as he could be the next person to step into the starter role since he and AJ Klein are the two most healthy linebackers at their position at this point. Thus far he has just been a special teams contributor but with recent injuries, he could now be pushed into a starting position for the Bills.
