Do the Steelers need Kendricks?

The Pittsburgh Steelers could more than use a player of Kendricks’ talents at inside linebacker. Devin Bush and Vince Williams both look great against the run so far in 2020. But neither looked like they knew what to do in coverage when lining up against Noah Fant in week 2. Being in the AFC means having to face talented tight ends. With players like Austin Hooper, David Njoku, Johnnu Smith, Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, and even Mo Allie-Cox on the Steelers regular-season schedule,  They need to be able to cover tight ends. This is also not mentioning players like Darren Waller, Travis Kelce, and even Mike Gesicki as players they could potentially see in the playoffs.

Furthermore, Eric Kendricks can help keep those talented players under wraps in a big way. The all-pro linebacker has tallied no less than 6 passes defended in every season after his rookie year, per ProFootballReference. He recorded a career-high 12 passes defended in 2019.  He is a tackling machine who has never posted less than 90 tackles in a season in his career and he already has 23 tackles through just 2 games in 2020. He would be an upgrade over either of our starting inside linebackers in both the run and pass game.
