The Pittsburgh Steelers have been re-committing to the run game in 2020. While they have had mixed success, it will pay off in week 3.

The Texans, despite having Bernardrick Mckinney, have allowed at least 150 yards rushing in each of their first two games of the 2020 NFL season. The Pittsburgh Steelers saw Benny Snell eclipse 100 yards rushing in week 1 and James Conner eclipse 100 yards rushing in week 2. Even with the Texans having a sub-par secondary, the run game should be able to take over the game in week 3.

James Conner’s 100-yard showing was very impressive considering the front 7 he faced against Denver in week 2. Shelby Harris is on his way to an All-Pro season, while Jurrell Casey is as consistent as they come. Alexander Johnson and Benardrick Mckinney are both very similar in terms of talent, but it is easy to see the difference in talent between these two front 7’s.

Benny Snell will have to focus on maintaining good ball security this week. I do think he will get some opportunities in week 3, but he will likely get a few fewer chances with the ball as a result of the fumbles. Anthony Macfarland Jr. may very well get his first touches this week as the Steelers have been keeping him shelved for the first two weeks of the season. I’m looking to see how he is going to perform in week 3 in his first NFL action.

Overall, this could be a 200-yard rushing game for the Steelers if they stay committed to it. I think that if the Steelers want to keep their defense off of the field, and the ball out of Deshaun Watson’s hands this is the best course of action.
