Bush plays like a DPOY

Devin Bush has had an up and down second season so far. As a run stopper, he has been one of the best in the league, utilizing his rare athleticism to win in run matchups. As well, his tackling has been great, constantly locking up whoever it is that he is trying to bring down. His biggest issue has been pass coverage, as he has struggled to consistently win during coverage. Last week was proof, as his play against Noah Fant was subpar.

Now, if Bush wants to be an every-down LB in this league, he will need to develop more as a coverage player. While it would be unrealistic to expect Bush to constantly win in coverage, he needs to do a better job of locking down the TEs he is matched up against. He has the speed to be effective here, so it should be an area he sees improvement in.

Against the Texans, I think Bush finally has his breakout game. Considering how fast-paced the Texans offense is, he should see ample opportunities to make a big play. I think he could have a 10 plus tackle game to go along with a forced fumble and an interception. As well, I think he can lock down the Texans TE’s, further adding to his great outing. Expect Bush to show up big time in the stat book this week and perhaps even earn a defensive player of the week nod.
