Tuitt turns into a nightmare

The Steelers pass rush has been historically good so far this year, and they are on pace for a record number of sacks. While T.J. Watt and Bud Dupree have been monsters off the edge and Cameron Heyward has been his usual stat monster in the middle, fans are getting about the lack of stats that Stephon Tuitt, as he only has two tackles and a sack so far on the season. While those numbers aren’t great, his play on the field has been.

Last year, Tuitt was the most dominant defender on the field each week before he was lost for the season due to injury. While his play has been a smidge under that so far, Tuitt has been constantly in opposing backfields pressuring the QB. His four QB hits show that despite not getting a sack, he is still doing his job of pressuring the QB. All of that said, I think he really begins to click this week and leads the team in sacks.

Considering the state of the interior of the Texans offensive line, Tuitt and Heyward should be able to feast. While everyone on the defense should be generating pressure, week three belongs to Tuitt as he posts three sacks and a fumble recovery for his efforts. His play has been great so far despite the average stat line, and week three is when he reminds the NFL of how dominant he is.

Week three will be a fun contest no matter what. For the Steelers, hitting on a couple of these bold predictions could be key in winning their third game this year. Only time will tell if any of these hit on Sunday, but if they do it will certainly help the Steelers odds of winning.
