The Steelers didn’t turn the ball over

One thing that really helped this team is that they didn’t turn the ball over. Ben Roethlisberger didn’t dominate the Texans by any stretch of the imagination, but he didn’t hurt the team by throwing interceptions. This is the value of a veteran quarterback.

Chase Claypool did have a fumble, but it was a good fumble. It was a good fumble because it went out of bounds and it didn’t go the Texans. It also helped the Black & Gold that he didn’t score a touchdown on that play and it made it possible for the Steelers to just kneel the ball.

There is some theory out there that a lot of close football games come down to who turns the football over the least. I think it might have been the difference in this game.

DeShaun Watson torched the Steelers secondary, but he still threw an interception at a key time in the game. That leads us to the third thing that went right in the Steelers win over the Texans.
