Matt Feiler: stock – down

When Ramon Foster retired, the Steelers needed to replace him with a mauler inside and they chose to do that by sliding Feiler inside. He has the build and mean streak to be a bully at guard so the decision was likely an easy one for the coaches.

However, his game was an ugly one, especially in pass protection. His mauling style is very good in the run game on the interior when pulling or just getting a push-up front to open lanes.

Feiler’s pass protection was not the best today and hasn’t been great all season. This is somewhat concerning but there is hope he figures it out on the interior after being one of the better pass blockers at right tackle from the time he took over in 2018.

Feiler must do a better job of not allowing the pressure to get in Ben’s face on passing downs. Ben is nowhere near as mobile as he used to be and he cannot afford to take hits like the one he took today after Feiler was beaten by Carlos Watkins.
