RB Anthony McFarland

Steelers rookie running back Anthony McFarland saw his first NFL touches come on Sunday against the Texans and it kind of makes you wonder why this kid didn’t see the field sooner. While Mike Tomlin was probably just doing his due diligence, McFarland is a player who should see his workload increased with each passing game.

Though he carried the ball just 6 times against Houston, McFarland quickly racked up 42 yards on the ground – giving him an even 7.0 yards per carry.  He’s a noticeably faster player on the field than either James Conner or Benny Snell, and he brings a different element that those players don’t possess.

In addition, McFarland has home-run ability and could take the ball to the house on any given play. With the way that the offensive line has been paving roads on the ground, don’t be surprised if McFarland continues to impress when called upon. Though he may just be third in line for carries right now, this is a player who needs to touch the ball more moving forward.
