TE Eric Ebron

I recently wrote an article about why the Steelers were not getting their money’s worth out of their rather expensive group of tight ends. Between Eric Ebron and Vance McDonald, they are costing Pittsburgh over $11 million per season over the next two years, according to Over the Cap. Fortunately, we finally saw some of that money put to good use on Sunday.

Against the Houston Texans, Ebron caught 5 of 7 targets for 52 yards and an impressive back-shoulder touchdown. The former 2018 Pro Bowler was a weapon across the middle for Roethlisberger and a security blanket at times.

Prior to Week 3, Ebron had earned just 4 receptions over the first two games and was targeted just 3.5 times per contest. If he can continue to be a threat over the middle of the field, it will help open up opportunities for other players on offense. Ben’s chemistry with Ebron seems to be growing. If these two can continue to connect, it’s going to be really hard for defenses to match up with all of Pittsburgh’s weapons this year.
