Greg Lloyd

Some may think Lloyd at number five is not a fair ranking as he was one of the best players to play his position for the Steelers. Lloyd and the famous “Blitzburgh” defense was one of the most dominant and fun units to watch. The toughest thing for Lloyd on this listing was his inability to secure a Super Bowl ring during his career with the Steelers. He was one of the most dominant pass-rushers that the team has ever had grace its fields but his team was not able to secure the most meaningful wins. That’s not entirely Lloyd’s fault but it plays a factor in the category of all-timer.

During his Steelers career, Lloyd put up monstrous numbers as he still is in the top 10 most sacks in a career for a Pittsburgh player in franchise history. His career numbers while in Pittsburgh include 10 seasons with the team, 125 games started, 10 interceptions, 34 forced fumbles, 15 fumble recoveries, 727 total tackles, 53.5 sacks, five Pro Bowls, three-time All-Pro nominee, and two time Steelers team MVP.

Lloyd was an amazing player for the Steelers in the 90s but much like the teams he played with, that era will be remembered for never being able to secure Super Bowls and that’s what lowered his stock on this list.
