The Pittsburgh Steelers should definitely look into exploring trade options with teams that may move too quickly off their current QB’s.

The Pittsburgh Steelers could look into trading for a few different young QB’s that never had a chance for success with their current NFL team. The CBS mock draft I mentioned earlier had both Washington and the Jets moving off of their current young and talented QB’s.

First and foremost, the New York Jets were projected to have the first overall pick and as a result, moved off of Sam Darnold for Trevor Lawrence. While Sam Darnold may be famous for his “seeing ghosts” line in a post-game interview, he is talented. He hasn’t had anyone to throw to aside from Robby Anderson and that offensive line may be the worst in the league. I feel bad for him as I feel he is one of the better talents in the league at the QB position and in a positive situation would be able to lead his team to win it all, multiple times. He can move and has shown as much guts as any QB in the league in a situation as poor as that one.

The other option is Dwayne Haskins. Haskins was replaced by Washington, for Justin Fields, in the mock and as a result, could be a great option for Pittsburgh. There is zero quit in this guy and even when other members of Washington looked dejected he was constantly pushing his team to just compete. While he has dealt with offensive line issues, and a lack of weapons aside from former Ohio State teammate Terry McClaurin, he has shown a tremendous amount of poise in that situation. He has a great deep ball, is big, and mobile enough to avoid pressure when it is warranted.

My favorite of the two is Haskins. If Ben were to retire, I would give up a first-rounder for Haskins. He has a great deep ball and his willingness to compete, regardless of injury, or surrounding talent level just screams Pittsburgh Steelers football. He could come in and air it out on a deep ball while fitting very well into an offense that was built around Ben and as a result would be my personal favorite choice for the future of the quarterback position in Pittsburgh.
