Loser: Minkah Fitzpatrick

As mentioned earlier, it wasn’t only the corners that inherently struggled this week, as Fitzpatrick continued to disappoint in the 2020 season. The first play that comes to mind is the heinous missed tackle he had which led to a bigger play and a first down given up. Fitzpatrick was right on target but opted to use his shoulder to hit him instead of wrapping him up and bringing him to the ground.

On top of this, the defense still hasn’t found a way to stop the pass. Wentz had been struggling before this game, yet he picked this defense apart. While Fitzpatrick isn’t responsible for all of this, the fact he hasn’t shown up in a major way on defense is a concern. While teams aren’t throwing to him as often, he also isn’t locking down the deep centerfield, as offenses have still been able to complete big passes.

While critiquing him for not having an interception is silly, it is fair to say that his overall coverage and tackling has taken a dip this year. While there is still plenty of time for the Steelers to right this ship, there secondary is quickly becoming a weak point and one that can be exploited by good teams. This unit rebounding will be critical as the season goes on and will likely dictate how well the Steelers do by seasons end.
