Secondary: D

Somebody has got to be responsible for surrendering nearly 30 points to the Eagles on Sunday, and it certainly wasn’t the defensive line. Though Keith Butler’s aggressive defense sometimes puts their defensive backs in a tough position, they allowed numerous 3rd and long conversions to the Eagles in Week 5.

While Steven Nelson came down with a pair of interception against Philadelphia, I was annoyed with how often this secondary was beaten by Travis Fulgham in his second career start. Fulgham managed to catch 10 of 13 targets for 152 yards and a touchdown.

What’s worse is that nearly every reception moved the chains, and Pittsburgh’s secondary allowed far too many 3rd down conversions in situations where they should have been able to get off the field.

With the offense putting up points and the defense getting constant pressure, this group should have done much better than what they did against the Eagles.
