2. Ben Roethlisberger

If I were to judge Ben Roethlisberger strictly on his importance to the team, he would always be at the top of the list. In the NFL, your team typically goes as your quarterback goes. However, I weighted these rankings a bit more towards how valuable players have been in terms of their position.

Having said that, Roethlisberger has been quite impressive considering the circumstances. It wasn’t long ago that analysts were calling for him to retire, and many didn’t know how the 38-year-old quarterback would look after being nearly a year removed from football and coming off a major elbow injury.

However, I think it’s safe to say Big Ben has silenced most of his doubters. Though Roethlisberger’s yards per attempt are still very modest and he doesn’t possess the most impressive advanced statists from an efficiency standpoint, perhaps his most impressive traits this season is his ability to take care of the football. In four games, Roethlisberger has thrown 10 touchdowns to just 1 interception on the season and has only been sacked 6 times on the year. This is exactly what we were hoping to see from him.
