James Conner

James Conner did not have a very good season in 2019. His efficiency with the ball in his hand was below average compared to other starting running backs, while nagging injuries have been the story of his career.

Though Conner left Week 1 early against the New York Giants, he has been quite impressive since then. While the Steelers starting running back averaged just under 3.0 yards per carry against the Eagles last week, he already earned his 3rd 100-yard performance in just his 5th game to begin the season.

Conner looked nimble and explosive against a solid Browns defensive front. He routinely slipped the first tackle and churned out plenty of yards after contact. Though he may never be considered as anything more than an above-average starting running back in the NFL, he has done as well as anyone could have expected to begin the season. If he can stay healthy, the Steelers will be a threat to move the chains on the ground on any given game.

There were plenty more who deserve recognition for their efforts in Week 6 and players like Joe Haden, James Washington, and Cameron Sutton all deserve their share of praise for the win as well. However, these five players really stood above the rest to me in the Steelers blowout win over the Browns.
