Ben Roethlisberger: Touchdown-to-interception ratio

Current stat: 11/1

Season pace: 35/3

Apart from maybe 19 touchdowns by Chase Claypool in 2020, this statistic may be the most unrealistic pace to keep up. For starters, Ben Roethlisberger has never thrown 35 touchdowns in his 16-year NFL career so far. In fact, he has topped the 30 mark just three times in his career.

Even more impressive, however, is the insanely low interception totals he is on pace for. Despite Roethlisberger being known for his poor decision making from time to time, Big Ben has just 1 interception in his first 165 pass attempts this season.

In seasons where Ben has played at least 12 games, he has never thrown for less than 5 interceptions in a season where he has played at least 14 games, he has thrown between 11 and 23 interceptions in every year except one (he threw for 9 interceptions in 16 games in 2014).

Maintaining this outrageous 11/1 touchdown to interception ratio will be almost impossible to do this season, but it is a statistic that has been so impressive thus far that it is worth mentioning.

It’s important to remember that the Steelers are just over a quarter of the way through the 2020 season, and it’s unreasonable to expect these individual players’ stats to finish as impressive as they started. Still, some stellar play from a few of these players should give Pittsburgh a legitimate chance to contend for a title this year.
