Steelers vs. Titans turnover battle

Tennessee is a formidable opponent and will be for the Steelers, but as head coach Mike Tomlin put it in his team press-conference this week, they get the “timely turnover.”

For starters, Pittsburgh and Tennessee, according to teamrankings.com, are two of only three teams that have a 1.0+ turnover margin per game in addition to averaging less than one giveaway. The Titans ended last week without a takeaway by the defense for the first time this season, but the late-game decision by HC Mike Vrabel to purposefully take a penalty saved them from a loss.

Before handling the Buffalo Bills in Week 5, two of their wins were sealed by a late-game interception to the Jacksonville Jaguars and Minnesota Vikings.

Thankfully for the Steelers, they haven’t been in this situation, and the closest they have experienced came from late-rallies to the Denver Broncos and Houston Texans. Halting each of their attempts of a comeback through a sustained rushing attack, who will bend and break first if this moment presented itself Sunday? RB James Conner being healthy is the best thing the Steelers could’ve wished for and he should play a significant role once again.
