Winner: Cameron Sutton

On the flip side, Cameron Sutton came into the slot and barely skipped a beat for this defense. Usual starter Mike Hilton has been one of the best slot corners in the league, yet Sutton showed the Steelers that he should be seeing more playing time moving forward. While he did give up a few catches, he made up for it by being a sound tackler and a steady presence in coverage.

His biggest complaint on the day was likely the score he gave up to Corey Davis. While he was certainly partially at fault, he also had no support from either of his safeties. Yes, it wasn’t ideal that he gave up the score, but that didn’t stop him from having an effective day as a cornerback. His coverage skills were well known, but he also showed some pop as a tackler.

Finally, while the interception went through his hands, he showed great body control when breaking that pass up. Moving forward, Sutton should certainly see more playing time on the defense. While he can rotate in for the slot, he could also make some plays on the outside. No matter what, he needs to be more heavily involved in the defense going forward.
