The Steelers offense can score points ‘in droves’
Now, let’s ‘level-set’ what I mean when I say the Steelers offense can score points ‘in droves’. The Steelers offense has never really been about scoring a whole bunch of points. Obviously, we have scored a bunch of points when we have had to, but how many games have we won by scoring 21 points or less?
So far in the 2020 NFL season, we have scored at least 21 points in every game. Scoring points was something we could do accomplish with any consistency in 2019, but, fortunately, scoring points has not been a problem this season. The reality is this: we have needed every one of those points in most games this season.
Against the Titans, we certainly needed every one of the 27 points we were able to score. I think I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge that the passing game carried the day. Despite the fact that James Conner, our starting RB, accounted for 80 of the 94 yards we were able to muster in the running game, the passing game led the way against the Titans with 268 yards.
Speaking of the passing game, Ben Roethlisberger, our franchise QB, attempted 49 passes. Fortunately, he was not sacked, but that’s way too many pass attempts for my liking. No harm, no foul as the offense was able to convert third-downs at a 72 percent clip. That was the difference in the game if you ask me.
Let’s continue, shall we?
