The Pittsburgh Steelers are the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL. Here’s how I graded their performance against the Titans in Week 7.
Who would have predicted the Steelers would be here at this point? After losing their starting quarterback for all but two games in 2019, Ben Roethlisberger was forced to rehab from a serious elbow injury this offseason.
While it was expected that Pittsburgh would have some improvement over their 8-8 record from a season ago, you wouldn’t find many realists out there who would have given them a shot a being 6-0 to begin the year. This has been the Steelers best start to a season since 1978. With one two more consecutive wins, it will be their best start of all-time.
The Steelers offense came out firing – ending their drought that lasted 24 straight games without an opening touchdown down. But while things were terrific in the first half for Mike Tomlin’s team, the second half was an entirely different story.
After quickly racking up a 24-7 lead in the first half, Pittsburgh’s offense fell flat and nearly laid a goose egg in the final two-quarters of the game. Meanwhile, a few massive plays from the Tennessee Titans offense brought the game back within reach – a game that should have been over long before this point.
Fortunately, Pittsburgh was still able to secure the win, and while the first half was excellent, there is plenty of blame that needs to be passed around for the flat performance in the second half. Here is my report card for the Steelers win over the Titans in Week 7:
