The Pittsburgh Steelers could make a contending team even more lethal. Here are the five best players they could potentially trade for before the deadline.

After a 6-0 start to the season, it goes without saying that the Steelers are legitimate contenders to win a Super Bowl in 2020. While many pointed to their strength of schedule as a reason for their dominance early on, Pittsburgh was able to beat an undefeated Tennessee Titans team on the road this week.

Though Pittsburgh occasionally has their struggles on offense, this unit still ranks 6th in the league with 30.5 points per game. Defensively, the Steelers couldn’t be much better. Though they have given up a handful of big plays so far this season, they are hands-down the most aggressive defense in the NFL this year, and their sack and pressure numbers will not be matched.

T.J. Watt is well on his way to becoming a Defensive Player of the Year candidate for the second season in a row while, Bud Dupree, Stephon Tuitt, Cameron Heyward, and Tyson Alualu have all been fantastic this year.

But even on a great team with a great roster, there is always room for improvement. Last year, the Steelers made did something out of the norm: General manager, Kevin Colbert, made an early-season trade for Dolphins safety, Minkah Fitzpatrick. While it’s almost impossible to envision Pittsburgh doing anything to that magnitude, they could make a trade before the deadline.

While the Steelers are already competitors this year, they could bolster their roster with a player that could really help them out down the stretch. There are a lot of bad football teams right now who will be willing to deal with some talented players before the deadline as they begin their rebuilding process.
