3. Jarrad Davis

Linebacker, Detriot Lions

This is a player that many Steelers fans have been hoping they would make a move for. Jarrad Davis is a big, athletic linebacker and a former first-round pick of the Lions. However, Detriot isn’t looking great so far this season, and Davis is in the final year of his rookie deal.

Absorbing his cap hit this season would be a walk in the park for Pittsburgh. Though they may not be able to retain his services after the 2020 season, the Lions likely would not be asking the Steelers to give up a lot to acquire him – potentially a mid-to-late round draft choice.

Though he struggled early in his NFL career, Davis is the number one ranked linebacker in terms of pass coverage, according to Pro Football Focus, with an overall grade of 92.2. Collectively, he’s currently the 5th ranked linebacker in the league this year.

Adding another big athletic presence to the middle of the field for the Steelers would be much welcome after Devin Bush was lost for the season – especially having one that can cover. This move could make sense for both sides.
