The Pittsburgh Steelers are a storied franchise and one that has had many amazing players wear their colors.

The black and yellow have seen so many legends come and go from the Steel City but those legends will always live in Pittsburgh. The franchise ran by the Rooney family has always been known for its defensive teams. Historically the Steelers have carried that hard-working and gritty mentality each and every season of its existence. The inside linebacker seems to exemplify that mentality as they do some of the hardest work without any expectations of a thank you. The position is tough and gritty just like the lives of the steelworkers that cheer for them on Sundays.

You have to be physical and an athlete to control the middle of the field against the opposing team. Luckily for the Steelers, they have had many great players at the position throughout the years and continue to have amazing and promising players come through the doors at Heinz Field.

Names will be remembered in the Steel City forever and some are recognizable names across the NFL to this day. Players grow a reputation over time that makes their names bigger than themselves, it makes them legendary and one people will never forget. This list shakes up what the expectations might be for a top-five list that many would expect. Some players might be stationed higher than others and that might make some controversy or surprise people when names drop and rise on this list of the five greatest inside linebackers in Steelers history.
