AFC South
The Steelers play the entire AFC south this year. So far, they have knocked off the Texans and staved off a comeback attempt from the Tennessee Titans. They Have two teams left to play. Pittsburgh could have easily lost to Tennessee, as they generally do not play well in their Stadium, so that game proved to be their first real challenge. They passed it. The Texans played the Steelers close as well but frankly were not the better team. The remaining games have their own challenges.
Indianapolis Colts 5-2: Home, Week 16
While 5-2, they are a good team, not as dangerous as the Titans, though. Even then, they have never been a great team. Whereas the Titans were a test for the Steelers, the colts will not be much of a challenge. Why? Keep in mind since 1984, the Steelers against the Indianapolis Colts are 13- 3. Pittsburgh has only lost once at home back in 2008.
Nevertheless, the Colt’s starter is now Phillip Rivers, the last remaining quarterback from Ben Roethlisberger’s draft class. While a great quarterback, he never had much success against the Steelers in San Diego. Plus, the Steelers have this game at home just after Christmas. If the Steelers are still unbeaten, look for the Colts to get crushed. Fans should expect a win in this game.
Jacksonville Jaguars 1-6: Away, Week 11
Anytime the Steelers play Jacksonville be afraid, be very afraid. Honestly, when the Steelers play Jacksonville, it seems that they look for ways to lose. Fortunately, the Steelers have to travel to Jacksonville. Normally that would not be positive news; however, in Pittsburgh’s case, it is. Why? Simple the Steelers actually have a much better record playing them on their turf as opposed to home.
Had the NFL scheduled the game in Pittsburgh, you could have credited the Jaguars with the win before the season started. While playing Jacksonville is a dangerous proposition at best, they are 1-6 this year, and with the Steelers playing on the road, Look for a win, but don’t freak if they lose, sometimes you can’t win them all. However, it’s preferable if the Steelers lose this game rather than the Superbowl.
