The undefeated Steelers travel to Dallas to take on a 2-6 Cowboys team. Here’s why the experts are unanimously taking Pittsburgh.

The Steelers are searching for their eighth straight win of the 2020 season, and there is plenty of reason to think that will come against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon. While Pittsburgh is no stranger to losing games against losing-record non-conference opponents in the past, there is too much riding on the line to mess this one up.

Mike Tomlin’s team was favored by a majority of NFL experts in each of their first six games of the 2020 season, according to NFL Pickwatch. However, in Week 8 against the Baltimore Ravens, just 39 percent of experts predicted Pittsburgh to prevail on the road against one of the league’s toughest teams.

After seeing how that played out, they won’t be soon to make the same mistake again – especially against a porous 2-6 Dallas Cowboys team.

As a result of a combination of Pittsburgh’s success, so far this season and Dallas’ failures, 100 percent of experts listed at NFL Pickwatch have the Steelers winning this Week 9 matchup. So far this season, the experts have a record of 6-1, and there is no reason to bet that they will be wrong this time around.

Why the Steelers are unanimous favorites

To be quite honest with you, I was really hoping the Cowboys and Steelers would be able to meet with both teams at full strength. This is always an epic battle that occurs just once every four years. Additionally, I was very interested to see how Pittsburgh’s defense would have fared against quarterback Dak Prescott and an offense that was on pace to break records early in the season. Unfortunately, Prescott went down with a severe lower leg injury that looked gruesome earlier this season, and their offense has been anything but productive since.

Dallas already had a bad defense before a plague of injuries swept through the organization. But if you combine that with an offense that has struggled more over the last three games than the New York Jets, you get 100 percent of experts going with the league’s only undefeated team this week.

I did, however, recently write an article about the one way Dallas could steal this win away from Pittsburgh this week, but even if the Steelers lose the turnover battle, it’s hard to envision the Cowboys winning when they have scored just 7.3 points per game over their last three contests with quarterbacks Andy Dalton and Ben DiNucci.

Now, it appears the Cowboys will be rolling with either Cooper Rush or Garrett Gilbert as their signal-caller this week. With Dallas already missing about half of their offensive line, this probably won’t be a recipe for success.

In the NFL, nothing is guaranteed. While the Steelers are clearly the better team at this point in time, they will still need to take care of business on Sunday. Let’s hope the experts are correct once again.
