The Steelers struggled mightily against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9. Here are my takeaways from the game.

What was going on with the Steelers in Week 9? After beating the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens on the road in back-to-back weeks, Pittsburgh almost lost to one of the worst teams in the National Football League this year: The Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys were down to their fourth quarterback this year, as Ben DiNucci did not get the job done in Week 8. They found much better success with Garrett Gilbert against one of the NFL’s best defenses. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh embarrassed themselves for most of the game against Dallas.

The Steelers surrendered the lead early, and their defense was gashed on the ground by the Cowboys running backs. Offensively, things were even more disappointing. Ben Roethlisberger’s offense put up goose eggs in both the first and third quarters, and the team only had 9 points entering the fourth.

Fortunately, Pittsburgh was able to take the lead with just 2:14 remaining in the game, though Dallas still had two chances to strike before the game was finished as time expired. Still, a win is a win and we can take comfort in the fact that the Steelers have advanced to an 8-0 record for the first time in the history of the franchise.
