The Steelers are the last undefeated team in the NFL as they prepare to face off against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Mike Tomlin’s team has struggled in games against below .500 teams in his career. It is mind-boggling that this situation still occurs as often as it does. Last week’s game against the Dallas Cowboys is a perfect example of this. It was another team that the Steelers should’ve dominated but yet again failed to even control the lead until late in the game.

The Bengals are the opposites in terms of the outcomes of games for their season. They have been in the majority of their games but just can’t finish them. That is the main reason this team is sitting at a 2-5-1 record. They have a very dynamic offense with a highly talented rookie quarterback in Joe Burrow. He has been able to make amazing plays week in and week out in a bid for offensive rookie of the year.

Burrow is the most consistent quarterback in this rookie class and should have more wins under his belt by season’s end. The reason he doesn’t is that the team around him is very questionable. His offensive line is an abomination and one the Steelers should be able to dominate all day. Their defense gives up a lot of points throughout a game and Burrow can not keep up.

What experts think of the Steelers this week

Out of three predictions from CBS Sports, NFL Network, and Sporting News, all three have the Steelers winning this game. The black and yellow are favored over their feline nemesis in almost every prediction made. Most of those have this game being a closer one than some might assume but it looks like “experts” are finally catching on that the Steelers play down to their competition.

Pittsburgh should be able to dominate this game if their defensive front can show their true potential in all 60 minutes. If they can, then Burrow will turn over the ball and be running for his life throughout. If not, then this secondary is going to get torched and it will be a much closer game than it should be.

If this season shows us any sense of how this game will unfold, then it will be a very close game; one that shows the Steelers defense still needs fixing and is exposed even by lesser competition. On the other side of the ball, Pittsburgh and its offense should be able to move the ball up and down the field throughout the day with relative ease. This is a poor defense that still needs work, so the Steelers can beat them up all day long.

Prediction: Steelers 27, Bengals 21

It will not be an easy game to watch as the Steelers have shown close games each and every week almost. This could be a blowout if Pittsburgh plays to its potential but they have failed to do that against weaker opponents.
