So far in this 2020 NFL season, the Steelers have proven to be one of the top teams to beat

Being the only team in the entire league to still hold an undefeated record (8-0 as of November 12th), the Pittsburgh Steelers are certainly not to be trifled with. Such success is riding on the backs of both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, with numerous talents scattered all over the field.

However, some of these stars are perhaps reaching the ends of their ropes, whether it is in regards to playing in Pittsburgh or playing at all. And some less notable positions may need some help soon, because while they are being led with the attrition that is currently in other departments of the game plan, that may not be the case in the near future.

Due to wishing to avoid the topic of trading (as we want to solely receive weapons, not give any away), the goal is to focus on what colleges there are to look at that are producing the pieces that the Steelers could partake of throughout the next few NFL Drafts.

Quarterback

Ben Roethlisberger has treated the Steelers franchise like royalty throughout his almost 17-year career as their go-to quarterback. However, with all those years comes old age, and with old age comes accident-prone players. What does not help in the slightest is how Big Ben’s remaining commitment to the game has been thrown into question some in recent memory, with the chances of his retirement being discussed and never quite being taken off the table by Roethlisberger himself. His current potential successors are Mason Rudolph and Josh Dobbs, but in my opinion, neither of those two choices are proven enough to be depended on for adequately filling the shoes that will soon be left behind.

Where to Look:

Mississippi State:

While Mississippi State is not particularly renowned for their quarterback talent, new head coach Mike Leach is. His gunslinging offensive style known as the “Air Raid” has produced talents with some of the strongest arms that the college game has ever seen. Gaining yardage is trivial to an Air Raid QB, and when you’re desiring the passing offense that the Steelers possess with their current wide receiver setup, that is exactly what should be on the top of your list.

Georgia:

After some off-season transfers, Georgia has perhaps one of the deepest quarterback squads in the country. They’ll need some work, as they are not quite making headlines for their play as of late. But with the right coaching, these guys can be lethal for defenses everywhere.
