Quenton Nelson, Indianapolis Colts Left Guard

Why This Trade Makes Sense:

Alright, this one is a tad far-fetched, but it is not the craziest idea. The left guard position is probably the least talented slot on the Steelers offensive line. That is stated with no disrespect directed towards Matt Feiler, but this is Quenton Nelson we’re talking about. He has proven his ability to play like one of the best guards in the game.

When speaking on how the Colts can benefit from this trade, the answer is solely experience. The Indianapolis running back corps is actually rather solid, but it is also pretty young. The addition of James Conner will provide more depth, along with a mentor for the newer backs when off the field.

Along with Conner, the Steelers would no doubt have to load the Colts up with some solid draft compensation. But anytime you are able to land a blue-chip player like Nelson, it would be worth it.

What is possibly one of the most crucial things to keep in mind about football is that it is a business. If the team can benefit from you being gone, then they will usually see a trade opportunity through. This take is not meant to imply that James Conner is useless; in fact, its purpose is quite the opposite. His value to another team could make Pittsburgh even better than they are now, and even in the most biased fan’s eyes, that is the priority.
