4 reasons Terrell Edmunds could live up to his first-round status
By Tommy Jaggi
Edmunds has been much more consistent as of late
One of the biggest problems with Terrell Edmunds early on (apart from his inability to come up with big plays) was his inconsistency in coverage. At one moment, he would be in tight man coverage – running hip-to-tip with his receiver down the field – and the next he would be blowing a zone a leaving his man wide open for a touchdown.
Last season, Edmunds allowed 72 percent of passes to be completed in his coverage for 514 and 4 touchdowns. What’s worse is that he allowed 10.3 yards per target, and surrendered an embarrassing 131.6 quarterback rating on the season in 2019, according to Pro Football Reference. This year, however, seems to have made a complete turnaround.
In 10 games so far this season, Edmunds has allowed just 251 passing yards and 7.4 yards per target to go with 0 touchdowns allowed and a remarkable 54.9 passer rating. For a player fans were starting to lose hope in, there’s nothing better we could have asked for than the leap Edmunds has taken in his third NFL season.
