Edmunds has shown rapid growth

I’ll admit, watching Terrell Edmunds over his first and second seasons in the league made me think that he could have a very similar career path as Artie Burns. While the two players clearly played different positions in the secondary, both were trending in the wrong direction after their rookie seasons. The difference now is that Edmunds has shown rapid growth as of late.

This makes me think that his career path could be similar to a different former Steelers first-round pick: Bud Dupree. If you recall, Dupree didn’t truly ‘break out’ until his fourth NFL season. Now in year five, the former 2015 first-round pick is finally living up to lofty expectations as the athletic pass rusher he was meant to become.

Edmunds still has a long way to go before we can say that this pick is as successful as drafting a player like Bud Dupree, but he appears to be progressing at an even faster rate than Dupree did. Let’s hope it continues.

At the end of the day, my original assessment of Terrell Edmunds doesn’t matter much and I hope he continues to prove me wrong. He is coming off his best game as a professional and he is finally starting to show why the Steelers spent a first-round pick on him in 2018.
