Chase Claypool: Offensive Rookie of the Year

While Chase Claypool’s play has been phenomenal, winning this award would be a longshot – mostly because the NFL loves to hand this to a quarterback. To be fair, Justin Herbert is having a terrific season for a rookie signal-caller. He leads all rookies with +110 odds. Just behind him is Joe Burrow (+175) and Tua Tagovailoa (+325). Claypool is a distant fourth at +1600 odds.

Though he may not be able to secure the ultimate award as a rookie, Claypool is every bit deserving of labeled a Rookie of the Year, and in a different draft class, he probably even wins it.

Regardless, nobody can be upset with what he has been able to accomplish early on this team. Despite not being labeled a starter until recently, Claypool has been able to put up miraculous touchdown numbers as a rookie, and his presence down the field is felt in nearly every game he plays.

With even better numbers down the stretch, Claypool could make a legitimate case to become the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2020. But even if he can’t achieve this, Steelers fans couldn’t be more pleased with the player Pittsburgh found in the second round of the draft this year.
