Colts @ Steelers: December 27th

The Colts aren’t spectacular on paper. They don’t necessarily have any superstar player that you need to be fearful of, and they haven’t been one of the most efficient teams running the ball this year. However, they have been surprisingly good this year.

Last week, they defeated the Green Bay Packers in overtime – a now 7-3 team that is considered among the best the NFC has to offer. Just before that, Indianapolis destroyed the 7-3 Titans in a 34-17 win. While the Colts did lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars all the way back in Week 1, they have been terrific since then – their only two losses coming against the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns.

There’s no doubt in my mind that the Steelers are the better team in this contest. They have significantly more star power and Ben Roethlisberger is still outplaying his old draftmate, Philip Rivers. Additionally, Pittsburgh will be at home in this contest late in the season – a scenario in which they typically do pretty well. Still, the Colts will have a lot to play for and I can see this one being a close contest against a deceptively good team.
