Steelers @ Browns: January 3rd

While Pittsburgh can’t seem to get Kansas City off their heels for the race for the number one seed in the AFC, it’s possible that the Steelers could have this locked up – assuming their record remains spotless going into the last game of the season. The Chiefs still have difficult matchups against the Buccaneers, Dolphins, and Saints, and it’s possible that they could fall two games behind Pittsburgh in the race to first place.

If this is the case, then the Steelers would no doubt rest many of their starters as they head into the playoffs. However, something tells me that with the way 2020 has gone so far, they won’t be afforded this luxury. Playing the Browns is never the hardest game on the schedule, but doing so against an improved team on the road in Week 17 against a club that has something to play for is a different matter. At this point, it’s possible that Cleveland could need a win to get into the tournament, so they could have even more to play for than the Steelers.

Either way, Pittsburgh is the better team here. However, the Browns are talented enough to pull out a very good game now and then. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen in Week 17.

The Steelers will likely be favored in all three of these contests to close the season, but these games aren’t going to be easy. If Pittsburgh wants to add this team to the record books, they will need to show up to play against all three of these AFC contenders.
