Gibson reverts back to college

One of the brightest spots on the Football Team’s offense is rookie Antonio Gibson. His success is mildly surprising, as he wasn’t used much as a true running back in college. He was more of a gadget receiver than anything, but he has made a seamless transition to being a pure running back. He has had his success through the air, but he has also netted 11 rushing touchdowns and close to 700 rushing yards.

The issue is, he faces one of the stiffest rush defenses in the NFL. The Steelers have slipped from their early dominance, but this defense is still one of the top-five units at stopping the running back. I don’t think Gibson is the runner to break this trend, as I think a plethora of his rushes are plugged at the line.

That said, he is still a threat through the air, and that is where he does the majority of his damage this week. While he only nets around 25 yards rushing, he serves as a check-down option and catches a team-leading seven passes for 70 yards. Not as dominant as his Thanksgiving performance, but still one that aids in keeping this game close.
