Scary Terry wins deep

Besides Gibson, the Football Team also has one of the most dynamic deep threats in the league in Terry McLaurin. His nickname is literally “Scary Terry” which doesn’t bode well for any corner that tries to cover him. While Joe Haden and Steven Nelson (assuming he can even play) aren’t slouches, neither are the hyper athletes that McLaurin is. If the Steelers allow for one on one coverage, it could be disastrous.

The Steelers do have Minkah Fitzpatrick deep, and it would be wise to keep him there in hopes of aiding either corner that is tasked with McLaurin. That said, the team has been keen on moving Fitzpatrick around. It won’t be every play, but the Steelers will leave McLaurin in single coverage sometimes. It will be up to either Haden or Nelson to keep up with the physical speedster.

This all considered I think McLaurin makes two critical play deep. Only one ends in a score, but he tallies a Madden-like five receptions for 120 yards as a result. He tallies a 64-yard score early in the game and snags a 38-yard catch later on. He is a threat with the ball in his hands, and he is the only true receiving threat outside of the running backs. The Steelers can’t keep two players on him at all times, and when he is in single coverage, he could make the team pay.
