Transitioning into Week 13, our team of writers at the Still Curtain give their predictions for the Steelers matchup against the Washington Football Team.

Another day, another Pittsburgh Steelers game. At least that’s how it has felt in the past two weeks, for what will be their third exhibition in that span.

Faced up against the Washington Football Team for Week 13, the Steelers aim to recoup after a tough 19-14 win to the Baltimore Ravens last Wednesday. Remaining on home turf, Pittsburgh enters as -6.5 favorites according to ESPN, presuming a relatively stable victory.

The last of the NFC East they will match up with on the year, Pittsburgh is currently 3-0 to opponents within its division and could extend its current six-game winning streak against the WFT. They have formidable talent that will be building blocks of the organization moving forward, but will it be enough for our writers to agree that it’ll stop the Steelers in their tracks?

Writer’s Recap

For any basketball fans out there, does someone remember 60 points in 29 minutes on 11 dribbles in three quarters? One for the book of “what will we never witness again as fans,” that game by Golden State Warriors SG Klay Thompson is reminiscent of our hit rate as a group in the month.

Despite the additions to the Still Curtain predictions, not one person has dropped a game in choosing against the Steelers. Have they been the hardest of matchups to predict? Not entirely, although teams of losing records usually have a say when playing Pittsburgh, the faith of this year’s group feels different and remains.

Week thirteen predictions vs. Washington

”I think both teams look sharp. That said, Ben comes out firing and overcomes his mistakes. Steelers win close.” – Andrew Falce (PIT 27-24)

“After a short week and after dealing with an injury to one of our defensive starters, you would think the Steelers are primed for a loss. After a sluggish start, the offense gets going. The defense plays well enough to hold off yet another comeback attempt.” – Eric Hassel (PIT 27-21)

”The Black and Gold need rest after playing on Wednesday. They didn’t have Ben Roethlisberger practice because of it. The Steelers should win a close one.” – Ed Hunt (PIT 27-24)

”The Steelers really struggled to put the Ravens away last week, and the offense had one of their worst games of the season. Mike Tomlin and his players weren’t very happy with just a five-point win in Week 12 and they will want to prove themselves against Washington this week. However, Washington is on a bit of a hot streak – outscoring their opponents 61-25 over the past two weeks. I anticipate a close contest.” – Tommy Jaggi (PIT 23-20)

”The Football Team is tougher than their record indicates but should still be a game the Steelers win to get to 12-0. However, to do so the offense knows it must pick up the pace from last week.” – Brandon Kring (PIT 28-13)

”Despite a sizable gap in their breaks between games, Pittsburgh should nonetheless outman Washington and have them gassed after four quarters of some physical football.” – Austin Lloyd (PIT 27-17)

”As the WFT look to battle whatever is going on in the NFC East, Pittsburgh diminishes their sight of hope up a bit with a dominating victory, although the short rest. The Football Team has young talent to love but certainly not enough to overcome the Steelers.” – Jordan Newman (PIT 30-10)

”The Steelers will struggle at points in this game because of their short week and Washington is playing better. The lack of talent for Washington should allow for the Steelers to pull away in the second half and make this seem like a controlled win the entire time.” – Ryan Pawloski (PIT 27-13)

”Pittsburgh is going to look as good as they have looked all year. Noone was truly happy with how Week 12 ended and the level of focus we’ll see from them will be as though they are playing the super bowl. Pittsburgh will decimate Washington.” – Casey Sadekoski (PIT 37-6)

”Washington comes into Pittsburgh looking to stay in contention in the NFC East. Unfortunately for them, I don’t believe they will come out with a win. I think the Steelers will take care of business for the 12th time this season.” – Alec Silverman (PIT 28-17)
