Here are the winners and losers from the Steelers 23-17 loss vs. the Football Team

The Steelers suffered their first loss of the season in embarrassing fashion to the Football Team. Despite struggling through a near loss last week against the Ravens, the Steelers came out with a similar offensive approach. This led to constant struggles and a lackluster day, and it only amounted to a mediocre 17 points. Here are the winners and losers from the Steelers’ loss to the Football Team.

Losers: Inside linebackers

While the inside linebackers were stout in run defense, there were some struggles in pass coverage from this unit. Part of this was the injury that Robert Spillane suffered early in the game, but as a whole, this group was key in letting up a lot of yards. For starters, tight end Logan Thomas had a career game, netting 98 yards and a score. While he wasn’t the sole responsibility of the linebackers, there were sometimes where they blew their coverage against them.

Even worse, J.D. McKissic was a factor as a pass-catcher. While he didn’t singlehandedly defeat this team, his 10 receptions for 70 yards allowed Washington to move the ball at a steady rate. This came down to the linebackers not performing as well as they should have in coverage. No, this defense was far from horrible, but the way the linebackers played in coverage was disappointing, to say the least. They didn’t lose the game, but they certainly didn’t help.
