OG Matt Feiler or OT Chukwuma Okorafor

You know how the old saying goes: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Well, it is ‘broke’ and the Steelers need to find a way to fix it. Unfortunately, it’s hard to point the finger at just one offensive lineman of the group (which is part of the reason why I included two names on this list). However, something needs to be done to kickstart the running game.

Benching a veteran starter late in the season is not an easy move, but it’s one that could prove to be beneficial as the Steelers prepare for the playoffs. For some reason, when rookie guard Kevin Dotson is not on the field, Pittsburgh just can’t run the ball. Of course, there could be multiple factors coming into play here, but at this point, trying something new on the offensive line is worth a shot.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that Matt Feiler is the player who should be benched. While the run blocking has been equally mediocre from everyone, Dotson could slide in for the veteran. The Steelers could also kick Feiler back out to right tackle and have Okorafor go back to his role as a swing tackle. Both of these scenarios are highly unlikely, but it might take someone getting benched up front for this rushing attack to improve.

The Steelers have their work cut out for them as they prepare to face a talented Buffalo Bills team this week. Mike Tomlin needs to lay the hammer down now on these players before it’s too late. Let’s hope these guys can rebound from bad performances in Week 13.
