The Pittsburgh Steelers have had the best start in the history of their franchise. Here’s why they were snubbed on the FanSided 250 list.

Every year, FanSided puts together an elaborate group of rankings that includes sports, entertainment, celebrities, gaming, and the hottest topics of the year. The Pittsburgh Steelers are usually popular enough to crack the list somewhere, but this year they were disrespected in their rankings.

To comprise these rankings, things like fan vote, search score, and social media follows are all factored in. According to FanSided 250, the Steelers rank in at just 108th on the list in 2020 – pinned in between the Kentucky Wildcats (107th) and Cardi B (106th). While there are many NFL teams who miss the cut entirely, I believe Pittsburgh was blatantly disrespected in these rankings.

The Steelers are currently an 11-1 football team after suffering their first loss of the season to the Washington Football Team in Week 13. However, they still boast the best record in the NFL and have been the surprise story of the season so far. Many national media personalities predicted that Pittsburgh would finish as low as 3rd in their division this year – one of them even claiming that Ben Roethlisberger would be the worst quarterback in the division.

While the Steelers perfect season now has now been blemished, Pittsburgh is still one of the most talked-about teams in the NFL. Yet, 12 other NFL teams are ranked ahead of them in terms of popularity on the FanSided 250. Some of those teams include the Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots, and Tennesse Titans. The Steelers, of course, have proved to be a much hotter topic than any of those teams.

Where should the Steelers rank on FanSided 250?

Obviously, if it were up to me, the Steelers would prove to be much higher on this list. Finishing at number one and number two on this list, respectively,  are the Los Angeles Lakers and the Kansas City Chiefs. It makes obvious sense why both of these teams finished at the top of the list, as the Lakers won the NBA Championship this year, and the Chiefs are the most recent Super Bowl winners. Patrick Mahomes has emerged as one of the biggest names in sports, and the Steelers don’t have a player that can match his current popularity level.

Still, I think Pittsburgh could have been much higher. The Baltimore Ravens were slotted in at number 15 on the FanSided 250 – a ranking the Steeles should probably own instead, considering how impressive they have been this year. To be fair, these rankings took months to comprise, and the Steelers weren’t as hot of a topic before the season as they are right now.

The Steelers will no doubt rise in the rankings for next year, as they continue to try to match their best season in the history of a franchise that dates all the way back to 1933. Regardless of what the FanSided 250 has to say, we know they are number one in our book.
