The Steelers lost their second consecutive game, and it wasn’t pretty. Here are my takeaways from their Sunday night performance against the Bills.

After a very sloppy two-game stretch against the Baltimore Ravens and Washington Football Team, we were hoping to see some much better play out of the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14 – particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. In fact, the offense may have had their worst game of the season.

Pittsburgh’s defense more than held their own in the first half, but after giving up a pair of scores in the third quarter, they desperately needed the offense to step up and make a play (or at least give them a little time to breathe). Sadly, the Steelers managed just 15 points all game.

There are some big questions that need answering after this loss, and it’s hard to even know where to start. Here are my four takeaways from Pittsburgh’s gut-wrenching loss to the Buffalo Bills in Week 14:

Steelers quick passing game is not the answer

The Steelers have had a lot of success with the quick passing game early in the season – especially against bad teams. But when they faced a talented Bills team with good coaches that know how to make adjustments, this offense was a trainwreck.

Nobody is being fooled about how quickly that ball is coming out of Ben Roethlisberger’s hands, and it has made for a very inefficient offense in recent weeks. I know Pittsburgh is trying to protect Ben with this style of play, but in reality, what it’s really doing is capping the offensive potential of this team; which at the moment is just about none.
