Losers: Diontae Johnson

On the flip side, Diontae Johnson struggled once again in this game. He is so frustrating to watch, as he routinely drops passes that are right in his hands. Worse yet, he is arguably the most dynamic player with the ball in his hands, as he can make any defender miss in space. That said, he dropped two passes early in the game, and like the many before those, they were easy catches that he has to make.

Mike Tomlin stayed true to his word and benched Johnson for a good portion of the game after that. He did come back onto the field later in the game, and he honestly looked good. He had four receptions for 40 yards, once again showing that he can make the big play when he makes the catch. It wasn’t enough to keep him off the losers list though, as those drops early were inexcusable.

The biggest takeaway may be that he at least doesn’t allow his mistakes to get stuck in his head. A lot of receivers in his position last night wouldn’t have had the small rebound that he did have, and that is a promising thing for him. If he can improve his hands, he could be the top target on this offense, and a threat that doesn’t allow his mistakes to haunt him. Until his hands get better though, he will remain on the losers list.
