Michael Onwenu

This pick will come at a cost, unfortunately, as Patriots rookie Michael Onwenu was drafted at the top of the sixth round. This means that the Steelers would have opted for him over fellow standout Dotson. While Dotson has played extremely well in the limited snaps he has been on the field, Onwenu is one of the top-rated linemen across the league. The difference is, Onwenu has just about tripled the snaps that Dotson has played.

Better yet, Onwenu has lined up at both guard spots as well as right tackle, proving that he is versatile along the line. Honestly, his size and play style reminds me of Ramon Foster, a physically huge player that is hard to get around. The biggest drawback for him is his mobility, as he isn’t quite the athlete Dotson is. At this point in their young careers though, Onwenu looks like the better and more versatile player.

Does this mean Dotson was a bad pick? Obviously not, but at this point, Onwenu looks like he may have been the overall better pick. While this could ultimately change as Dotson gets more playing time, it seems like the Steelers may have missed n Onwenu. It will be interesting to compare these two players, as they were taken essentially a round apart and both look like up and coming talents in the NFL.
