WR Diontae Johnson

There aren’t many receivers who have had a second-year slump quite like the one Diontae Johnson is in. As a rookie, Johnson led all NFL receivers in yards of separation per target, according to Next Gen Stats. Despite poor quarterback play, Johnson was very impressed with his ability to quickly pluck the ball out of the air and make plays after the catch.

Because of this, fans had very high hopes for the player he could be with a year of experience under his belt and Ben Roethlisberger at the helm. Sadly, he couldn’t be much more disappointing than what he has been in 2020. While he still makes the occasional splash play, there may not be a receiver in the league with shakier hands at the moment.

So far, Johnson has dropped a whopping 12 passes on 113 targets. This issue has been so bad, that he was benched for most of the first half against the Buffalo Bills after another pair of early drops. Perhaps Diontae Johnson will be able to clear his head and get back on track with a promising career, but he has certainly been one of the players Steelers fans have been most disappointed in this year.
