Steelers run the ball 25 times

Is running the ball 25 times a bold prediction? For most teams no, but with how one-sided this offense has been in recent weeks mixed in with the poor rushing attack on top of it, this is an offense that struggles to rush 20 times in a game let alone 25. This week changes that though, as the Steelers dedicate their offense to establishing the run this week.

For those that can’t remember, the last time the Steelers running backs rushed for at least 25 times in a game was week 6 of this season. In that game, James Conner himself got 20 of those carries and had over 100 yards on the day. While I don’t think he replicates that success in this game, I do think he gets a healthy dose of carries.

The fact of the matter is, the Steelers should get an early lead, and that means they should be able to run the ball as opposed to trying and come back bypassing. While the team has shown an affinity to pass the ball with the lead, one would have to hope that the Steelers dedicate this game to establishing the run. The overall success may not be there, but if they give the runners a consistent amount of touches, it should aid in reestablishing this running game.

While the Bengals themselves may not provide a huge threat, this game should go a long way in setting this team up for success after this bout. Worse yet, if these bold predictions rear their head, it could lead to a surprise loss for the team. The Steelers need to come out hot, establish the run, and reassert themselves as top threats in the NFL.
