5 difficult decisions the Steelers must make in the 2021 offseason

Fifth-year option for Terrell Edmunds
This would have been a really easy decision if the Steelers had to make this in the first half of the 2020 season. Despite being a former first-round draft choice, Terrell Edmunds did little to impress in at least his first two seasons in the NFL. He was always a second late to the play, and he failed to make hardly any plays on the ball. In fact, Edmunds finally snapped his 38-game drought without an interception this year – earning two against the Jaguars.
In 2019, Edmunds surrendered 514 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns to go with a 131.6 passer rating, according to Pro Football Focus. However, he has since turned things around in a big way. This year, Edmunds has taken a significant jump forward, but is it enough for Colbert to hand him the fifth-year option?
Prediction: Steelers pick up the option
Though I wouldn’t have thought this early on, I think this is something the Steelers will try to get done. If you recall, Pittsburgh gave the fifth-year option to Bud Dupree after earning just 6.0 sacks and 7 quarterback hits in 15 starts. If history holds true, I fully expect the same to be done with Edmunds, who honestly might have shown even more promise at this point. It’s a bit of a risky move with the way things are financially, but I think it will get done.
